Maharashtra on Saturday reported 11,394 new Covid-19 cases and 68 deaths due to the deadly virus. Today’s Covid tally has seen a decline of 2,446 as compared to yesterday. less than half of the total deaths in Maharashtra Reported from Pune circle. Maharashtra has a mortality rate of 1.83 per cent.
On Friday, there was a decline of 1,412 in the number of daily cases from Thursday’s total of 15,252. The latest Covid tally has pushed the total COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra to 77,94,034, while the death toll stands at 1,43,008.
The state health bulletin said Maharashtra has 21,677 cured and 1,33,655 active Covid-19 cases. No new case of Omicron was reported in Maharashtra on Saturday. Among the new Covid cases, Pune city reported 1,494 cases, the highest in Maharashtra, followed by Nagpur (764), Pimpri-Chinchwad (778) and Mumbai (643).
Maharashtra eases Covid-19 restrictions
The Maharashtra government had on February 1 announced new guidelines for easing COVID-19 restrictions in districts that had been administered 90 per cent single dose and 70 per cent double dose of vaccination for 18 years or more.
“The list will be updated weekly, taking into account these percentages as per official information of the Department of Public Health,” the order said.
class 10, 12 exam will be offline
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Thursday said that the Class 12 and 10 exams will be conducted in offline mode, despite students demanding cancellation of physical exams due to COVID-19.
The board said that there will be no change in the dates of the examinations announced earlier.
The board’s director Sharad Gosavi said that it would be difficult to conduct the online examination in view of the large number of students appearing for the examination and other technical issues related to non-availability of equipment. “Therefore, the board has decided to conduct the board exams offline,” he said.
