Dhruv Joshi, son of Hemant Joshi who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, has cleared his Class 10 examination with an impressive 80 per cent.
However, Dhruv’s family, still mourning the loss of his father, chose not to celebrate the achievement — a moment typically marked with joy elsewhere.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education announced the examination results on Tuesday, with Dhruv passing the test with a commendable score.
His father, Hemant Joshi and relatives Sanjay Lele and Atul Mone were among the 26 persons who became victims of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. They all were shot dead by the Lashkar group’s affiliate The Resistance Front (TRF) terrorists before their family members.
Dhruv’s relatives told The Times of India that both he and his mother are grieving his father’s death during this otherwise happy moment as his father is not alive to witness his success.
“Dhruv, a student of Omkar International School. He and his family feel very sad that his father is not there to see his success,” Rajesh Kadam, a relative of the Joshi family, was quoted as saying by TOI.
He further said: “Recently, Sanjay Lele’s son and my nephew Harshad, who also witnessed the killing of his father, also passed his TYBcom with an A grade.”
Dhruv’s uncle, Mone, another victim of the terror attack from Maharashtra, was a Senior Section Engineer in the Indian Railways. He was in Pahalgam with his wife and daughter.
He had traveled with his cousins, Sanjay Lele and Hemant Joshi, on the trip. Nine members of their extended family were on a six-day vacation in Kashmir, with plans to return on April 26.
