Nagpur: Two independent MLAs from Maharashtra has written to Deputy Speaker Narhari JirwalHe said that he cannot suspend any MLA as there is already a no-confidence motion pending against him.
The Shiv Sena on Thursday submitted a list to Jirwal, containing the names of the MLAs for whom disqualification was being sought.
Mahesh Baldi (Uran) and Vinod Agarwal (Gondia) have jointly sent a letter to Zeerwal and Secretary (Maharashtra Legislative Assembly) today.
The letter states that “Notice to move a motion for the removal of Narhari Jirwal and the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly under Article 179 of the Constitution of India read with Rule 11 of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Rules has already been served.” ”
The letter states that through the media both the MLAs have heard about the move to disqualify some MLAs. “But the members have to be given seven days to reply. We fear that this time will not be given and some decision will be taken in haste,” Agarwal said.
His letter further states that Deputy Speaker Zirwal is “under constitutional prohibition, as held by the Supreme Court of India to decide on disqualification, while a motion for his own removal is pending”.
