Denying media reports of Maharashtra not being able to meet its coal requirement, the Coal Ministry on Sunday said the state is meeting its coal requirement, with the allocation to power plants from 2.14 lakh tonnes per day in March. has been increased to 2.76 lakh tonnes per day. In April, until April 11, 2022.
The ministry said in a press release that the supply of coal to thermal plants is increasing with the increase in the demand for electricity.
During the financial year 2021-22, 70.77 million tonnes (MT) of coal was supplied to the Thermal Power Plant (TPP) of Maharashtra. State-run Mahagenco has been supplied 37.131 MT of coal during 2021-22.
“Daily coal supply to Mahagenco was 0.96 lakh tonnes per day in March 2022 which has been increased to 1.32 lakh tonnes per day in April (up to 11.04.22). It is equally relevant that the coal requirement of Maharashtra is met. MahaGenco owes about Rs.2390 crore.
