Mahindra & Mahindra has presented an exclusive custom-built XUV700 Gold Edition to Tokyo Paralympic gold medalist Avani Lekhara. The exclusive XUV700 features custom-built front driver and passenger seats that provide easy access for people with disabilities. In August 2021, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, announced that the company would present Lekhara with a special SUV to commemorate her gold win in the women’s 10m AR Standing SH1 final. It was India’s first gold in the shooting para sport, and Avani also set a new Paralympic record of 249.6 metres.

Mahindra XUV700 Presented Avni is equipped with special front seats that have two operations – front and rear. The Forward function moves the seat out of the vehicle and down to ensure easy entry and exit, while the Return function moves the seat back in. This function addresses a significant challenge faced by people who are handicapped as it minimizes entry and exit heights and allows for easy transfer from a regular wheelchair to a specialized seat.
