Makar Sankranti 2023: Also known as Uttarayan, Makar Sankranti is one of the major holidays celebrated in India. On January 14, the festival will be celebrated with enthusiasm. On this day, people from far and wide reach Kashi and Prayagraj for a bath. It is believed that by taking a dip in the Ganges on the day of Makar Sankranti, a person gets freedom from his sins.
Makar Sankranti 2023: Know the method of worship
On the day of Makar Sankranti, wake up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes. If possible, go for a bath in a holy river or the Ganges. You can also take bath at home by mixing Gangajal in tap water. For worship, fill water in a copper pot and put red flowers and Akshat in it and offer Arghya to Lord Bhaskar. Chant the mantras of the Sun. Chant the mantras of Surya for 108 times and recite Aditya Hriday Strot and pray for the fulfillment of your wishes.
Along with this, make khichdi and sesame laddoos at home and offer food to God. After offering bhog, take the prasad yourself and distribute it to others as well. Donate food, sesame seeds and blankets to the needy and poor on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
