Don’t have the time, money or patience to complete your home decor? These easy tricks will make your living space look brand new.
1. Shed and Shuffle Furniture
Big heavy furniture will make a room look dull and cluttered. Either remove large pieces you don’t really need or rearrange them in a way that makes the room appear more spacious.
2. Redo the Light
Lighting plays an important role in changing the way a space looks. A brightly lit room looks more welcoming and larger. But, mood lighting can give you comfort. Buy lamps for corners to illuminate the room and also double as ambient lighting when needed.
3. Sofa Throw and Pillows with Bold Print
Throw pillows and sofas cost little but can really decorate your living room. Stack several pillows and decorate the sofa with throws. Go for bold prints and colors. You can also create a theme. The best part is that they are easily replaceable so you can experiment to find out what you like and what you like.
4. Rearrange the Shelf
If the shelf is littered with books, decorate it with knick-knacks and leave it there for a while. You can experiment with the setting – color the books, move things around, add some succulents, or slip in a framed photo. Add some drama by adding lighting. You can turn it back into “just a bookshelf” whenever you want.
5. Make way for the wallpaper
Painting work is difficult and messy. Thanks to the decor gods for the wallpaper. Choose from an incredibly wide range of colors, textures and patterns, including imported waterproof ones. It costs a fraction of painting, winds up in a single day if you lay all hands on the deck, and requires you to only move furniture to the middle of the room. It is so cheap and easy to change that you can change the look every year if you want.
6. Bring in Rugs
Dull floors can be under carpet swept! Install rugs in your rooms. They add a great texture and make a bold statement. They are inexpensive and not a hassle like changing floors and you can replace them from time to time. For example, swap one out in the bedroom with the living room.
7. Paint the Ceiling
Ceilings are often given step-by-step treatment when painting a home. If you can’t get the paint job done throughout the room, just cleaning the ceiling will help a lot. Give it a dramatic color.
8. Get Your Wall Tattooed
There are artists who can create a neat work of wall art. This will give your home a more personalized look as you can choose from themes, philosophies and designs. It doesn’t require full painting work and your home will still look new.
9. Make the bathroom luxurious
Give the bathroom a good scrub. Replace small things like faucets, cabinets, knobs and shower curtains. Buy a new dish of soap, a toothbrush holder, or anything that looks old. Change the light from yellow to white or vice versa.
10. Change Things Up in the Kitchen
Just like in the bathroom, you can replace old things with new ones. Repainting the cabinets won’t cost a lot. Replace knobs with grab bars, remove cabinet doors entirely for an open shelf, or add features like storage. There is so much that you can do.
