Indian Navy Chief, Admiral Karambir Singh and US Navy Chief Admiral Michael Gilday boarded the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson during the second phase of the Malabar exercise. Admiral Gilday hosted 12 senior Indian Navy officers aboard the USS Carl Vinson. He described India as a “natural partner” and said the two navies would work together in the days to come. Naval forces of the Quad nations United States, India, Australia and Japan are participating in the second phase of the Malabar exercise in the Bay of Bengal. Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh said that over time the Quad Navies have built up interoperability, trust and understanding. Naval forces of the Quad nations began the second phase of Exercise Malabar in the Bay of Bengal. The Quad nations have increased cooperation to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific.
