A controversy has erupted in West Bengal after the organizers of a Durga Puja decided to put up an idol of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in their marquee puja pandal along with the goddess Durga, prompting an angry reaction from the opposition BJP, which called the move “nausea”. Renowned clay modeler Mintu Pal is making a fiberglass sculpture at her Kumartuli studio, draped in the TMC supremo’s favorite white Tant sari and her trademark flip-flop slippers to boot, “God”.

Next to the fiberglass idol, a clay idol of Durga and her progeny will be placed for worship.
