Man arrested inside Windsor Castle on Christmas day believed to be Sikh avenger of Jallianwala – Times of India

London: Armed police have arrested a man from inside the grounds Windsor Castle An Indian-origin Sikh believed to be carrying a crossbow and detained under the Mental Health Act, wanted to assassinate the queen to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Armed police responded to a security breach on the grounds of Windsor Castle at 8.30 a.m. on Christmas Day and arrested a 19-year-old from Southampton on suspicion of breach of a protected site or trespassing and possessing an offensive weapon. The queen was having breakfast inside the palace at that time and other members of the royal family were present. The man has since been booked under the Mental Health Act.
Police have yet to name the suspect, but British newspapers have named him as Jaswant Singh Chail, an Indian-origin Sikh, known to friends as Jas, who allegedly killed him 24 minutes before his arrest. A pre-recorded video was uploaded on Snapchat in which a masked man was shown. Claiming to be a Chail, he said that he intended to kill the queen.
In a video obtained by Sun, posted to Chail’s friends on Snapchat at 8.06 a.m., a masked man holding a black weapon, wearing a Star Wars-inspired mask and a hoodie, and using a distorted voice, says : “I am sorry for what I have done and I am sorry for what I will do. I intend to assassinate Queen Elizabeth of the royal family. This is revenge for those who died in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre It is also revenge for those who were killed, humiliated and discriminated against because of their caste. I am an Indian Sikh, a Sith. My name was Jaswant Singh Chail, my name is Darth Jones.”
The Sith are ancient enemies of the Jedi in the fictional Star Wars universe and are devoted to the dark side of the force. Behind the man in the video is a framed image of Darth Malgus from Star Wars. Darth Jones may refer to the American actor James Earl Jones, who voiced Darth Warder in the Star Wars films.
The video is accompanied by a message that read: “I apologize to all those whom I have wronged or lied to. If you have found this then my death is near. Please share this with anyone and if If possible, take it to the news. They are interested.”
According to news reports, the Chail family’s £500,000 (Rs 5 crore) semi-detached family home in Southampton was searched by police on Christmas Day. Chail’s father, Jasbir Singh Chail (57), told MailOnline: “Something has gone wrong with our son and we are trying to find out if we haven’t got a chance to talk to him, but we can tell him that.” Trying to get the help he needs. The suspect erected a spiked fence with a rope ladder on the Long Walk and entered the palace grounds, immediately triggering security procedures. He did not enter any building. A crossbow was recovered after a search of the suspect.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told TOI: “The entire circumstances of the incident are being questioned by the Metropolitan Police Expert Operations. Following the man’s arrest, detectives are assessing the content of a video. We are looking forward to discuss further. are not ready.”
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place on April 13, 1919, at a Baisakhi gathering inside a historic garden near the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
