Man says pet dog chewed his toe “down to the bone”, but it saved his life

A 7-month-old bulldog puppy was next to its owner while he was sleeping.

A man in the UK said his puppy saved his leg after chewing his toe “down to the bone” while he was sleeping. According to new york post, David Lindsay was napping on the couch with his bulldog Harley nearby. He was awoken by the screams of his wife, who shouted that the puppy was chewing on her toe. The man saw a bloody stump where his big toe had been. The 7-month-old puppy chewed it so badly that the toe was broken and a nail was visible hanging out of it.

Though the couple was shocked to know what the dog did, it later turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

“It gnawed at the bone and broke it. But because of it all, I found my leg completely numb, I couldn’t feel anything,” Mr Lindsay said Post,

The Cambridge resident spent nine days in hospital after doctors gave him intravenous antibiotics to stop the infection spreading to his bone.

Doctors discovered that Mr Lindsay, who suffers from diabetes, had two of his arteries blocked, putting him at risk of needing leg amputation due to the lack of blood flow to the area.

Since the dog exposed the area around the toe, doctors were able to assess the problem and are now weighing whether they should add a stent to open the man’s arteries and restore circulation to his limbs. Is required.

Lindsey said, “You have to laugh about it. He did me a favor by chewing on my toe.” sky News,

The man also said that he had no plans to give the dog away. “I’ll try to keep my toe too, but if not I told the doctor to cut it off and I can take it home for him!”
