In most of the cases the doctors and the medical fraternity can be life savers but on some occasions, medical negligence or a wrong activity by the doctor can either claim the life of the patient or leave them in a worse condition than before.
One such case has come to the fore from France, where a man had to pay a heavy price for the negligence of the doctors treating him. The private part of the man had to be amputated due to the spread of cancer in his genital area due to medical negligence.
In 2014, the 30-year-old father of three was diagnosed with carcinoma, a type of cancer. After being diagnosed, he was treated at the Nantes University Hospital, where due to the negligence of the doctors, the cancer spread so much that it reached the person’s private part. As a result, the doctors amputated his genitals saying that if he did not do so, he would die. His life was ruined after the surgery, the man took the matter to court.
In this case, a hearing was held in the Administrative Court of Nantes and after investigation, it was found that due to the wrong treatment of the doctors in the hospital, the cancer had spread in the private part of the person.
The court ordered the hospital to pay Rs 54 lakh to the victim as compensation for her ruined life. Speaking to local media, the patient’s wife said that the man was in such pain that he almost tried to cut off his genitals but was stopped by her.
