PUNE: Kondhwa police on Thursday claimed to have solved the mystery behind the death of a 40-year-old man, whose body was found in a 20-feet ditch near a selfie point at Bapdev Ghat on Tuesday morning.
They tried to destroy the evidence by arresting the victim’s son and his cousin on the charge of murder on Wednesday night.
Police have identified the deceased as Pawan Debu, a resident of Narhe. SharmaWho was working as a supervisor in a private firm. “Sharma’s son, Sonu and later cousins, Shailendra Ahirwarstrangled her with a rope on the night of 13 June as he used to harass and beat his wife Yashoda And when Sonu is drunk,” Inspector (Crime) Sanjay Mogle Kondhwa police told TOI.
Mogale said, “Acting on a tip-off, we picked up Sonu and Ahirwar from the Pune railway station when they were about to board a train for Madhya Pradesh. During interrogation, he admitted to committing the crime.”
The investigating officer said, “On Monday, they strangled Sharma with a rope. After this he went to Bapdev Ghat by car, where he threw it in the ditch after an hour.
