Marcus Rashford introduces children’s book; 50,000 EWS will be distributed to children

Manchester United FC forward Marcus Rashford’s first children’s book will be distributed among 50,000 children from the economically weaker sections.

The book The Breakfast Club Adventures: The Beats Beyond the Fence is the story of a 12-year-old Marcus who receives a mysterious note that invites him to join the “Breakfast Club Investigators”. He is drawn into a journey where he gets a chance to solve amazing mysteries to get his football back.

The Marcus Rashford Book Club, operated in collaboration with KPMG, The National Literacy Trust and Macmillan Children’s Book, will distribute these to economically disadvantaged areas of the United Kingdom.

Co-authored by False-Koya, the book will help children “escape from an environment and find joy in reading that can be quite challenging.” The club has so far distributed 1 lakh free books to the children.

Rashford’s latest book is inspired by his own adventures growing up and is aimed at eight to twelve-year-olds. After distributing 50,000 books, the club also plans to give out 25,000 units of a book, the title of which is yet to be announced.

“When I was growing up, books were always a refuge for me and a place where my imagination could be ignited. The ability to give this to more kids is amazing, and that’s why I think the Marcus Rashford Book Club is such a huge project,” Koya said in an interview with Bookseller.

Speaking about the initiatives taken by Marcus Rashford Book Club, Belinda Ioanni Rasmussen, MD, Macmillan Children’s Books, “Since we started working with Marcus to promote the joy of reading, in 2021, in the UK 1,70,000 children and youth have received one free of charge. The MCB book and 100,000 books have been gifted exclusively through the official Book Club initiative.

Prior to this, the book club distributed A Dinosaur at My Sister by Pooja Puri and Silas and The Marvelous Misfits by Tom Percival.
