maruti suzuki India Limited today announced the launch of the CNG powered Swift. New Swift CNG Will be powered by the same 1.2-litre NA DualJet engine that produces 89 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. When running on CNG, the power and torque figures drop to 77 PS and 98 Nm. The company claims that the Swift S-CNG will deliver an efficiency of 30.90 kmpl.
The CNG option is available in only two variants, VXI and ZXI and are priced at Rs 7.77 lakh and Rs 8.45 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
Swift S-CNG can also be owned through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe, with a monthly subscription fee starting from INR 16 499/-.
The company claims that the Swift CNG’s powertrain and suspension have been specially designed to offer better engine durability, higher mileage and better safety.
Cosmetically, the hatchback does not get any updates. It gets up-swept halogen headlamps, chrome garnish on the grille, turn indicators on the ORVMs and LED tail lamps. The feature list of the S-CNG variant remains the same as that of the petrol-powered variant.
The new Swift S-CNG comes with Dual Interdependent Electronic Control Units (ECU) and an Intelligent Injection System. The company says that the safety of S-CNG vehicles is enhanced with stainless steel pipes and joints to avoid corrosion and any leakage throughout the CNG structure, integrated wires to eliminate short-circuiting Harnesses are used and a microswitch ensures that the vehicle is turned off and does not start during the CNG refueling process.
Apart from Swift, Maruti Suzuki offers Alto, WagonR, Celerio, DZire, Ertiga, Eeco, Super Carry and Tour-S with S-CNG technology.
