Street food stall can be a lucrative business, hence we see graduates and postgraduates quit corporate jobs to set up food stalls. MBA Chaiwala, MA English Chaiwali And other such success stories paved the way for one more – MBA Food Wali. Thirty-year-old Fathima pursued MBA but quit her job to set up her own business with the support of her husband and other family members. She opened a street food stall in Siliguri, West Bengal, on a two-wheeler she calls a ‘Scooty Cart’. She is now making news for the unique set-up, but not so unique name.

In a video on her YouTube channel, Fatima confessed that she followed the trend of naming her shop ‘MBA Food Wali’. He said, “I love cooking and am an MBA, so I came up with the name to capitalize on the current trend.” Various food items like kheer, dahi vada, golgappa, chaat, biryani, kebab rolls and burgers are available at their stall. Her Instagram profile reveals that she also plays the role of a food vlogger.

When asked how difficult it was to quit her job to open a food stall, Fatima agreed, “It was a tough decision, but it’s tough until you start; once you jump into it , then the fear goes away.”
Fatima also revealed that she didn’t want to depend on anyone to assist her in her business. “I wanted to be self-sufficient, so I bought a scooter with my savings, as I could also use the vehicle to go to the market to buy food and supplies.”

There are many others who are trying start your own street food stall and make them successful. ‘MBA Food Wali’ has got some tips for all of them. She said that it is always better to choose the food items to sell according to the season. For example, sell cool things like kheer in summer. He also advised to go for dishes that can stay fresh for a long time as sales may be slow in the beginning.
