The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday refused to discuss the remarks of Prophet Mohammad by BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal when Jaishankar met Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdullahian.
BJP leaders now suspended, Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal commented Prophet Mohammed Due to which reaction and anger is being received from Arab countries.
However, a statement from the Iranian government said that its Amir-Abdullahian had raised the controversial remarks in a meeting with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.

“My understanding is that this issue was not raised during the talks between the External Affairs Minister and his Iranian counterpart, ANI Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi was quoted as saying.
“I don’t like to comment on comments among senior dignitaries… My understanding is that what you are mentioning in a readout has been pulled (by Iran),” he said.

The Government of India clarified on several fronts that the statements do not represent the views of the Government of India. The Indian government also called the comments the opinion of ‘fringe elements’.
“We have made it clear that the tweets and comments do not reflect the views of the government,” Bagchi said.
“It has been conveyed to our interlocutors and it is also a fact that action has been taken by the relevant quarters against those who commented and tweeted. I really have nothing more to say on this,” he said.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has already suspended both Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal.
