MEA on Pegasus Row: We have no information available

Pegasus controversy: The Ministry of External Affairs does not have any information related to the Pegasus spyware controversy, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Thursday.

A foreign ministry spokesperson said the Pegasus case was being probed by a committee set up by the Supreme Court.

“There is no information available with the Ministry of External Affairs on this matter,” he said in response to a series of questions on a recent New York Times report that claimed India had signed a $2 billion defense deal with Israel. Pegasus had purchased spyware as part of the deal. 2017.

The NYT reported that Pegasus and a missile system were part of a nearly $2 billion deal between India and Israel for sophisticated weapons and intelligence gear.

The report also mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Israel in July 2017. To this, Bagchi said that during PM Modi’s visit, MoUs were signed and the details of which are publicly available.
