Athletes and coaches training at Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi alleged that they were asked to finish training by 7 pm earlier than usual, as an IAS officer Sanjeev Khirwar had to take his dog there.
Although, Tyagaraja’s administrator Ajit Choudhary denies the allegations athletes and said that they were not asked to vacate the stadium early. He said that the official training time for athletes is till 7 pm and after that the coaches and athletes leave.
Who is IAS Sanjeev Khirwar?
Delhi Principal Secretary (Revenue) Sanjeev Khirwar has sparked controversy after he ‘walked his dog’ at the facility.
Sanjeev Khirwar is a 1994 batch IAS officer. He is presently the Revenue Commissioner of the Government of Delhi, under whom all the District Magistrates of the national capital work.
Along with this, he is also the secretary of the Environment Department of Delhi. He was earlier posted as Commissioner of Trade and Taxes in Delhi.
IAS Sanjeev Khirwar has worked with several state governments including Goa, Andaman and Nicobar and Arunachal Pradesh. Khirwar has also worked with the Government of India in the past.
Khirwar has done B.Tech in Computer Engineering and also holds a Master’s degree in Economics.
He started his career as an SDM in Chandigarh.
