Commissioner Secretary Labor and Employment Sarita Chauhan on Sunday inaugurated the first of its kind Divisional Level Mega Job Fair at Amar Singh College, Jammu and Kashmir, where a platform was provided to educated unemployed youth of Kashmir Division to come face to face. . Job givers.
More than 40 companies participated in the event and around 2,000 job seekers from all the 10 districts of Kashmir division participated in the event.
1,200 youth were shortlisted/registered by private companies, 15 youth were handed over offer letters on the spot and 150 youth were selected for training in hotel management, after which they would be recruited in the same field.
Sarita Chauhan, while addressing the media, talked in detail about bridging the gap between demand and supply in the employment market. He impressed upon the stakeholders to counsel and guide them to take up skill oriented courses to enhance their employability.
Addressing the industry representatives, he stressed upon the registration of private companies as job providers on the employment portal (www.jakemp.nic.in).
He directed the representatives of the private company to list the skill requirements in their respective fields and inform the available vacancies from time to time.
The Commissioner Secretary further directed the Director Employment to strengthen and diversify the counseling of the youth and make efforts to build links with the industry.
Representatives of various companies and industries also spoke on the occasion and showed enthusiasm in this step of connecting with the youth through the department.
