Men are just as emotional as women, their feelings differ to the same extent: New study

Many of us grew up hearing the age-old stereotype that women are more emotional than men, despite there being no evidence to back it up. And yet, the stereotype that women are more emotional, volatile, and more likely to have behavioral problems is passed down from generation to generation.

Now, a study conducted by scientists at the University of Michigan has found that men are just as emotional as women. Researchers have debunked the stereotype, claiming that both men and women are equally emotional.

To conduct the study, both positive and negative aspects of the daily routines of 142 men and women were studied over 75 days. This study was done before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic across the world.

Adrienne Beltz, assistant professor of psychology at the University of Michigan, and her colleagues claimed that no significant differences were found and that the emotions in men were just as different as those in women. To support the result, the scientist stated that a man who develops emotional ups and downs during any sporting event is said to be emotional, but if the event causes an emotional change in a woman’s behavior, it is called emotional. Simply called irrational.

The researchers went on to say that women may not be given the tag of “emotional” simply because of hormones. Emotional changes in one’s behavior are due to hormonal changes, but many other reasons can also be prominently behind it.

In another recent study, women in countries such as Iran, Sri Lanka and India were found to be more able to deal with emotions effectively than men.
