The Costume Institute in America: An Anthology of Fashion is the second of a two-part exhibition exploring fashion in the United States. Describing the theme and how Natasha incorporated it, Anita took to Instagram and wrote: This year’s theme, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, references the Gilded Age of the late 19th century. It is a time of abundance and prosperity. Decline and abundance, modernization and progress. Time to make a fortune and celebrate beauty, art and fashion. Time for generous patronage to artisans and crafts. A moment of post-war light-headed glee that reflects our own pandemic world, when we hunger to return to glamor and splendor, to life, to rekindle the imagination. All are ready to silently remember the lessons of history. (sic)”

Natasha Poonawalla adorned custom jewelery designed by Sabyasachi Fine Jewellery.

Draped by celebrity drape artist Dolly Jain and styled by celebrity stylist Anita Shroff Adajania, the overall look included custom jewelery by Sabyasachi and Bhavya Ramesh, Christian Louboutin shoes and glasses by Anna Karin Carlson. The saree, which had been Natasha’s sight from day one, was a sign of something new in Sabyasachi’s love for clothing and traditions. Describing the dress, Anita further wrote: I wanted something ornate but whimsical, to focus on the waist, to the corsetry and bustle of the time, and a fringe of tulle with delicate embroidery in an Indian drape. Swath. The Schiaparelli metal corset as the ultimate symbol of a true renaissance in fashion, a return to pure extravagance, and combined with the excellence of India’s most celebrated designer Sabyasachi, who has infused new energy into textile traditions and my favorite heart, The sari that was Natasha’s eye from day one!
