It further mentioned that it plans to make the age verification tool available in more countries globally within the next few months.
In June last year, the company initially started testing new options for Instagram users to verify their age, starting with people living in the US.
Later in October, META expanded the trial to India and Brazil.
If anyone between the ages of 18 and 18 or above tries to edit their date of birth on the platform, they will need to verify their age using one of three options – Upload your ID, Record a video selfie or ask mutual friends to verify yours. age.
According to the company, this will ensure that “teens and adults are in the right experience for their age group.”
It added, “In addition to testing a new menu of options to verify people’s ages, we also use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to understand whether someone is a teen or an adult.”
