New Delhi: President of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez obrador has said that he will propose the formation of a commission before the United Nations, with the member as PM Narendra Modi, Pope Francis and the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, to ensure a five-year global struggle. According to local media, Obrador made the remarks during a press conference last week.
Official sources said that no formal communication has been received from anyone about the proposal so far.
According to media reports MexicoObrador said the three men would work to prevent wars around the world and that Russia, China and the US should accept their mediation.
“It is essential that the three governments of the three great powers – Russia, China and the United States – hopefully hear this, accept a mediation, as we are proposing, that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Secretary-General of the United Nations , Antonio Guterres and Pope Francis, all three of them get together and soon make a resolution to stop war everywhere,” he said.
“We must stop military confrontation, we must opt for dialogue, not the use of force. Confrontation must be avoided and it is clear that, yes, innocent lives are being lost, because there are bombings and deaths. We are, like Ukraine, so we all have to make efforts to achieve peace.”
According to Obrador, the proposed ceasefire “will help to reach agreements in the case of Taiwan, Israel and Palestine, and will not lead to further confrontation”. Furthermore, he urged that all governments around the world should join forces with the support of the United Nations, and not the bureaucratic apparatus in which proposals and initiatives are presented.
