Michael Schumacher, Maria Sharapova named in fraud case filed by Delhi woman

Police in Gurgaon have registered a case against former Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova, former Formula 1 racer Michael Schumacher and 11 others for cheating and criminal conspiracy following a court order. The FIR was registered on the complaint of a Delhi-based woman, who accused him of cheating. Shefali Agarwal, a resident of Chhatarpur Mini Farm in New Delhi, complained that she had booked an apartment in a project by the name of Sharapova. One tower in the project was named after Schumacher, she said. The complainant said that the project was to be completed by 2016, but it never materialised.

He accused international figures of being part of the fraud through his association and promoting it.

Earlier, it had filed a complaint against M/s Realtech Development and Infrastructure (India) Pvt Ltd in a Gurugram court. Ltd., for defrauding other developers, Sharapova and Schumacher to the tune of ₹80 lakh.

The complainant submitted before the court that she and her husband had booked a residential apartment in Gurgaon’s Sector 73 in the name of Sharapova, but the developer companies cheated them by luring them to invest money in their project, which was never delivered. it was done. ,

“We came to know about the project through advertisements and got in touch with the company management after the pictures of the project and too many false promises were made,” she said in the complaint.

Sharapova and Schumacher conspired with buyers as the project’s promoters, Ms Agarwal, alleged that the former tennis star had visited the site and promised to open a tennis academy and sports store.

“It was mentioned in the brochure that she was promoting the project, and also made false promises, had dinner parties with buyers, and all this was done for the project, which never happened,” read the complaint.

An FIR has been registered at Badshahpur police station under sections 34 (common intention), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC.

“As per the order of the court, an FIR has been registered and we are reviewing the matter. The investigation is on,” said Inspector Dinkar, SHO of the station.
