Microsoft bringing back your special taskbar for tablets in the latest windows 11 preview, First launched in February along with other features, the tablet friendly taskbar It was later removed for the purpose of further development. Now, the feature is back and will come as part of an update for windows insider In the Developer Channel, the Redmond-based tech giant made the announcement in a blogpost. Note that the company plans to monitor feedback on the feature from insiders before deciding to go for a wider rollout.

Microsoft calls this feature a tablet-optimized taskbar. One thing to note is that this feature will only be available on devices that can be used as 2-in-1 hybrids such as tablets and not on other regular laptops or PCs.
Whenever users decide to use their 2-in-2 hybrid PC as a tablet and disconnect or fold the device keyboard, the tablet-optimized taskbar will activate.
“As a reminder, this taskbar has two states: collapsed and expanded. In the collapsed state, the taskbar moves out of your way, giving you more screen space, and accidentally pops up when you’re holding your tablet.” Prevents taskbar from being invoked. In the extended state, the taskbar is optimized to be easy to use with touch. You can easily switch between the two states by swiping up and down on the bottom of your device ”, said the tech giant in a blogpost.
How to check feature
To check if you can use this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar Behavior. If this feature has been rolled out on your device, you’ll see a new setting inside Taskbar behavior called “Optimize the taskbar for touch interaction when this device is used as a tablet”. It will be set to On by default.
