The laptop’s display will now be able to drop the refresh rate to 60Hz to extend battery life or increase it to 120Hz to provide a smoother experience.

This feature was made available to Windows Insiders for testing for about a month and is now being rolled out to all users. According to a report in Windows Central, the Surface Laptop Studio’s screen was able to switch between refresh rates based on the content being displayed.
Since Surface updates are rolled out in phases, some users may have to wait for a while to get the latest one. Users can also search for it through the Windows 11 Settings app to check whether it is available on their device or not. Users can update their laptops manually and Microsoft even has a guide on how to do it on their website. However, it is important to note that once firmware updates are installed they cannot be uninstalled or reverted to an older version.

In addition to adding dynamic refresh rate support, Microsoft has improved inking and touch support on the Surface Laptop Studio. The tech giant recently added an update to the Surface Pro 8 that includes the same improvements as the incoming.
