Milk Producer’s Cooperative Society for Adi Dravidian and Tribal women inaugurated in Tiruppur

In a first of its kind initiative, the Milk and Dairy Development Department, in partnership with the Adi Dravida and Tribal Welfare Department, has opened a milk producer’s cooperative society exclusively for Adi Dravida and tribal women in Tiruppur district.

Information and Publicity Minister MP Samanathan and Adi Dravidian Welfare Minister N. Kayalvizhi Selvaraj inaugurated the first milk committee at Komaralingam village in Madathukulam taluk on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Kayalvizhi Selvaraj said that in the last budget session, during the discussion on the demands for grants of the Adi Dravida and Tribal Welfare Department, it was proposed to form cooperative milk societies at 40 places across Tamil Nadu. Special participation of Adi Dravidian and tribal women as members. Each of these societies will have 50 women members. The Tamil Nadu Adi Dravida Housing Development Corporation (TAHDCO) will facilitate the infrastructure required to set up the society. The government will provide an assistance of Rs 1 lakh to each of these societies to buy milk cans.

Listing the schemes launched by the state government since the DMK came to power, Mr. Samanathan said that the government would fulfill all its election promises and redress various grievances of the public in a phased manner. The Ministers also inaugurated Urban Primary Health Center and Panchayat Office in a village of Udumalpet Panchayat Union.
