MINI shared the first teaser for the all-electric crossover concept which is set to debut by the end of July 2022. Along with the teaser, the company also shared details on its new charismatic simplicity design language and what customers can expect from the upcoming new generation model of the Mini. , MINI confirmed that the next-generation range of hatchbacks and SUVs will be slated to run an all-electric drivetrain with new 3-door and Countryman replacements with electric mobility in mind.
“The purely electrically powered models of the Mini offer us a unique opportunity to rethink our design. At the same time, we draw attention to detail, a sense of tradition and the passion for innovation for which MINI is renowned,” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design.
Leaked images of the new Mini 3-door from 2021 reveal an evolutionary design.
Starting with the teaser, the image revealed a part of the front fenders of the upcoming crossover as well as a silhouette of the model from behind. Visible design details include a shortened front overhang, prominent wheel arches with cladding, cladding on the bumper and the iconic rounded Mini headlights. Meanwhile the silhouette seen in the image paints a picture of a model which is likely to get a design that has evolved from the company’s existing model.

“We combine the core of the Mini DNA with innovative, aesthetic and technological inspiration in our new design language. This means that every new Mini remains a genuine as well as future-proof original,” said Helmer. Cited the example of its iconic Union Jack tail-lamp which will use the latest developments in LED technologies to display in different ways on different models.
The tail lamps will use the latest LED technology to light-up in a union sequence depending on the model but will retain the iconic Union Jack pattern.
The company also confirmed that its upcoming models will reduce the use of leather in the interior along with an almost complete reduction in the use of chrome-finished components.

Mini has been extensively testing the new 3-door on international roads for some time now, while the upcoming concept is likely to preview the Countryman’s successor.
