The annual government exhibition at VOC Grounds featuring stalls put up by government departments and undertakings was inaugurated on Thursday by Minister for Tamil Development, and Information and Publicity M.P. Swaminathan.
The purpose of the exhibition – the 227th in Tamil Nadu and 38th in Coimbatore – was to reach out to prospective beneficiaries with the various schemes of government departments, the Minister said.
A total of 33 stalls have been put up by government departments and undertakings, including the Minority Welfare Department and the Fisheries Department, Coimbatore Corporation, Aavin, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, Tamil Nadu Housing Board, and Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation.
The entrance fee for the 45-day exhibition is ₹15 for adults, ₹10 for children, and ₹5 for students, and it will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on all days.
The 2024 exhibition attracted 1,68,433 visitors and registered revenue of ₹44.30 lakh, the Minister said.
District Collector Pawankumar G. Giriyappanavar, Commissioner of Police A. Saravana Sundar, Coimbatore Lok Sabha MP, Coimbatore City Corporation Mayor R. Ranganayaki, Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran, and other senior officials took part in the function.
