Ministry of AYUSH exploring ways for students to make career in traditional systems of medicine

The Ministry of AYUSH is exploring ways to engage students in a more inclusive manner to pursue a career in Yoga, Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine. Towards this initiative, the ministry is organizing a conference ‘Diverse and Fulfilling Career Paths in AYUSH Systems – Education, Entrepreneurship and Employment Focus on North Eastern States’ on September 10 in Guwahati, the ministry said in a statement.

AYUSH systems are Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Sowa-Rigpa, Siddha, Yoga and Naturopathy. Heads of AYUSH institutions and research organizations along with Union AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will interact with students at the conference.

“It is for the first time that a conference focusing on students and their career options and start-ups prospects in this sector is being organized by the Ministry of AYUSH,” the statement said. In August, AYUSH and health ministers from all northeastern states had participated in a conference organized by the ministry. During the conference, they discussed in detail the development of infrastructure and promotion of AYUSH systems of medicine.

The conference on Friday will discuss diverse and holistic career paths in AYUSH systems, with a special focus on education, entrepreneurship and employability in the northeastern states, the statement said. It added that presentations will be made by experts on education and career opportunities in all streams of AYUSH. They will also explore and discuss the outlook of the industry and talk about the possibility of young professionals setting up their businesses and start-ups, the statement said.

The event will also have an interactive session for students and scholars along with experts from the stream.
