The TMC rubbished the claims of the BJP leader and said that the actor is “trying to fool people by making false claims”.
Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata, Gemini Chakraborty said about two dozen MLAs of the ruling Trinamool Congress have very good relations with the BJP.
Mithun said, “Do you want to hear breaking news? At present 38 TMC MLAs have a very good relationship with us, out of which 21 are in direct contact (with us).”
The actor-turned-politician said the BJP is in power in 18 states and the party’s flag “will be hoisted in some other states very soon”.
“BJP will not stop its fight in West Bengal. If free and fair elections are held in the state today, the party will form the next government,” he said.

After a tough fight between TMC and BJP in the last assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee’s party returned to power for the third time in a row with 213 seats.
In the 2021 assembly elections also, BJP got a great lead. It won 77 seats – an increase of 74 seats in the previous assembly elections. It received 38.13 percent of the vote – a jump of 28.13 percent.
The BJP also overthrew the Left and the Congress, which had ruled the state for 64 years since independence, and became the only opposition party.
However, the BJP has seen an exodus of TMC leaders leaving the party who had joined the BJP ahead of the elections.
