The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday hit back at Rahul Gandhi after the Congress MP called out External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his “damning silence” on the number of aircraft India lost under Operation Sindoor. Accusing the Leader of Opposition of helping Pakistan push its “false narrative” with his words, the BJP termed Rahul Gandhi as “modern age Mir Jafar”.

Taking to X, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya slammed Rahul Gandhi and stated that the Pakistani media is weaponising his social media posts to push a false narrative — this time, portraying a battle in which India clearly dominated the escalation matrix as something in their favour.

“This isn’t new. In the past as well, the Pakistani establishment has gleefully cited Rahul Gandhi’s statements in international forums to deflect attention from their own role in harbouring terrorists. His words repeatedly serve as cover for those who sponsor cross-border terrorism,” Malviya wrote in a post on X as he shared a video clip of a Pakistani news channel featuring Rahul Gandhi’s post on Jaishankar.

He further questioned Rahul Gandhi: At what point does political ambition give way to national responsibility? The BJP leader further said that “Rahul Gandhi is the modern age Mir Jafar”.

The BJP leader further stated that it is no surprise that Rahul Gandhi is speaking the language of Pakistan and its benefactors. “He hasn’t congratulated the Prime Minister on the flawless Operation Sindoor, which unmistakably showcases India’s dominance. Instead, he repeatedly asks how many jets we lost—a question that has already been addressed in the DGMO briefings.”

The BJP pointed out that the Congress leader has to even once once inquired about how many Pakistani jets were shot down during the conflict, or how many were destroyed while parked in their hangars when Indian forces pounded Pakistani airbases.

“What’s next for Rahul Gandhi? The Nishan-e-Pakistan?” the BJP leader inquired.

Union minister Prahlad Joshi also slammed Rahul Gandhi and said he seems to have learned nothing from his past mistakes. “He (Rahul Gandhi) continues to disrespect the Nation’s Armed Forces by questioning how many jets were lost—despite clear statements from the IAF and MEA confirming there were no asset losses. He misquotes the MEA, even though the DGMO clarified in his May 11 briefing that India had made efforts to communicate with its counterparts. Is the Congress party truly serious about supporting the nation? Their actions suggest otherwise,” he wrote on X.

BRS Leader Questions Rahul Gandhi

Reacting to the Pakistani media claims using Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, BRS leader Dr Krishank also questioned the Congress leader and attacked him for earning political points at the cost of India’s reputation. He further accused Rahul Gandhi of strengthening the false propaganda of Pakistan that too, in a situation that was almost like a war.

Raising questions on the Congress MP, the BRS leader stated that being a Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi had the privilege of asking such questions in an all-party meeting behind closed doors, instead of chosing X as a platform to question matters of national security.

“Do continue to ask questions, Rahul ji, but at the right time, right place so that it strengthens Indian voices, not its Opponents,” he suggested.

Rahul Gandhi Targets Jaishankar

Doubling down on his attack on External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday reiterated his earlier claim that the Centre informed Pakistan “at the start” of Operation Sindoor and said this wasn’t a “lapse”, but a “crime”.

Accusing Jaishankar of staying silent, Rahul Gandhi levelled allegations despite PIB fact-checking the claims and debunking them.
