Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has said that the Modi wave alone cannot help the party win the assembly elections in the state. Speaking at the state executive meeting held in Bengaluru on Sunday, he said the Modi wave may help in winning the Lok Sabha elections, but in the state, the party should focus on development works.

“Prime Minister Modi is doing a lot of work at the Centre. He will again become prime minister after the next election. But Congress has woken up in the state. The opposition parties are making a strategy and we should work harder. The party should be formed from the booth level itself. Only then can we teach a lesson to Congress. Hanegal and Sindhi [bypolls] Winning is not easy. Yediyurappa said, this is an “agnipariksha” (litmus test) for us.

“We can win the Lok Sabha elections in the name of Modi but the assembly elections can be won only on the basis of our actions,” he said.

BS Yediyurappa, considered the face of BJP in Karnataka, had resigned as chief minister in July this year for Basavaraj Bommai.

At a party meeting on Saturday, it was decided that four teams, led by Yediyurappa, Jagadish Shettar, DV Sadananda Gowda and state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, would undertake a state-wide tour to assess the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections. Work on the shortcomings. This tour will be taken out from October.
