Monsoon Update: Heavy rain in Maharashtra, Gujarat for next 5 days

Heavy rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa over the next 5 days, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department on September 11.

According to the Meteorological Department, the Ghat regions of Maharashtra, Konkan and Vidarbha will receive heavy rainfall between September 11-16. Even Marathwada will receive good rains between September 11-12.

Other states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa are also likely to receive heavy rains for the next 5 days.

In the southern region, very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over North Interior Karnataka and Telangana on September 11, while widespread rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on September 11-12.

Very heavy rainfall is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on September 11.

In the northern part, there is a possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorm or lightning over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh during the next 5 days.

Meanwhile, the IMD predicted that the sea condition would be very rough to very rough over northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal and off Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal coasts on September 11-12.

The department has advised fishermen not to venture into northwest and west central Bay of Bengal and along and off Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal coasts during this period.
