MP hospitalized in shock after receiving electricity bill of Rs 3,419 crore

The Madhya Pradesh government-run power company blamed “human error” and issued a corrected bill of ₹1,300 to the relief of the worried Gupta family, residents of the city’s Shiv Vihar Colony. Ms Gupta’s husband Sanjeev Kankane said her father fell ill after seeing the huge numbers on the electricity bill for household consumption for July. The bill issued on July 20 was cross-verified through the portal of Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MPMKVVC), but it was found to be correct, he claimed.

The bill was later rectified by the state power company, Mr Kankane said.

MPMKVVC General Manager Nitin Manglik blamed human error for the huge electricity bill and said that action has been taken against the employees concerned.

“An employee entered the consumer number in place of the units consumed in the software, which resulted in a higher amount billed. Correct bill of ₹ 1,300 has been issued to the electricity consumer.

MP Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar told reporters that the error has been rectified and action is being taken against the employee concerned.

In another incident, a man allegedly under the influence of alcohol climbed atop a 100-foot mobile phone tower in Maharashtra’s Jalna district and demanded his wife return home from her parents’ house, a police officer said. said on Thursday.
