Officials said viscera is the entire body part of a dead person that is preserved by the police after it is removed during postmortem to investigate cases of murder or unnatural death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sampat Upadhyay said, “We had received information about missing visas in some cases registered at Vijay Nagar police station and were being told (by the concerned police personnel) that the visas were eaten by rats.”

He said that an Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) has been ordered to conduct a detailed inquiry into the missing from the Vijay Nagar police station’s warehouse. The DCP said that the next step would be taken on the basis of facts emerging in the investigation.

“The viscera is being taken for plastic in a cesspool of filth at the police station. Therefore it may also happen that an animal like chirping may have damaged the viscera.’

He also said that only after secretly investigating the character of Vijay Nagar Police Station, any result can be reached in this claim.
