Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India]July 17 (ANI): Counting of votes is underway for the first phase of local urban body elections in Madhya Pradesh, involving the municipal corporations of Bhopal and Indore, which began at 9 am.

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate is leading by 8,092 votes in the recently held urban local body elections in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

According to the data, Pushyamitra Bhargava of BJP is leading by 51,692 votes, while Sanjay Shukla of Congress has got only 43,600 votes.

Hours before the results of the urban local body elections were declared, Shukla and his supporters created a ruckus at the Nehru Stadium.

According to the information, there was a ruckus after Shukla and his supporters were stopped by the security personnel at the gate.

Party workers were seen raising slogans of ‘Congress Ekta Zindabad’ and ‘Sanjay Shukla Zindabad’.

Meanwhile, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Pawan Jain reached the gate on time and pacified the matter, after which Shukla was given entry to the counting site.

The strong room was opened for the counting of votes in the presence of the representatives of the candidates and District Collector and District Election Officer Manish Singh.

The votes from the postal ballot will be first counted to decide the fate of 85 councilors and 1 mayor. (ANI)
