MSDE launches self defense training workshop for women employees

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship A five-day self-defense training – “My Safety, My Responsibility” was inaugurated on Tuesday, March 29. This program is in alignment with ‘Mission Karmayogi’, an initiative that focuses on capacity building while modernizing thinking and approach. Government employee.

This self-defense program is designed by the Sport, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SC) and is based on combat systems such as Krav Maga, Kali, Silat, Wing Chun and others. So far 50 women have participated in the programme.

“The program’s instructors are experts in teaching the world’s best techniques in situational awareness as well. These techniques have been designed by combat specialists with over 15 years of experience, and are easy to learn and jeopardize,” says MSDE. Huh.

Explaining the importance of such workshops, Rajesh Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “Women safety is the top priority of the government, and with this self defense programme, we want to encourage women to enroll in such training modules. expect. To protect himself from any kind of attack or threat. The Ministry is committed to setting up such platforms where women can learn to defend themselves from self defense experts. Furthermore, creating a safe environment for women is vital to ensuring the safety and integrity of the country’s female workforce, and this is a small step in the right direction. We hope that this pilot is successful and we are able to take these sessions to a more structured and outcome based workshop in other Ministries, Departments, Schools and Organizations.

Commenting on this initiative, Tehseen Zahid, CEO, Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council said, “A safe environment for women is the need of the hour, initiatives like these are steps in the right direction. Self-defense should be encouraged among women to ensure that they are self-reliant when it comes to defending themselves in case of danger. ,

“In the backdrop of rise in crime against women, learning self defense skills is the need of the hour for women to keep themselves safe. Being vigilant is the key to staying safe. Learning self defense techniques will help women become more aware, alert and equipped in times of danger against these criminals. It will also help in reducing the number of crimes against women.”

The objective of the training program is to equip women with a safety net to deal with dangerous situations. The goal is to empower them and enable them to defend themselves from real-life scenarios such as sexual assault, kidnapping, molestation, bullying, etc., the release said.

Under the programme, participants in the self-defense program are being taught how to deal with multiple attack situations, especially looting. In addition, women are also being trained to counter knife and pistol-wielded attacks with day-to-day items that can be used as weapons against a potential killer. Apart from this, the training also includes tips on how to avoid slaps, punches, street smartness and use of Nirbhaya Self Defense Kit.
