Mumbai: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will launch its first electric bus on June 1 on the Pune-Ahmednagar route. The new e-bus, named as “Shivay”, will be launched in the presence of the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other dignitaries at the premises of the Corporation’s Regional Office in Pune. In addition, a charging station will be inaugurated by Ajit Pawar in the regional office premises of the corporation.
Here are 5 things to know about MSRTC’s new e-bus, ‘Shivay’:
1) is going to conduct six daily services in accordance with the transport body releases, 12 meters long with a seating capacity of 43 e-Bus.
2) The bus will run at a speed of 80 kmph.
3) MSRTC’s first bus service was started on the Pune-Ahmednagar route on 1st June 1948.
4) According to the release, on June 1, 1948, Lakshman Cavett, the conductor of the first bus to run on the Pune-Ahmednagar route, will flag off the MSRTC’s first e-bus “Shivay”.
5) MSRTC is one of the public transport undertakings owned by the largest state in the country with a fleet of more than 16,000 buses. The loss-making corporation was ferrying over 65 lakh passengers daily before the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.
