The guidelines state that a student can attend school only with parental consent and attendance is not mandatory. If a student has symptoms such as fever, cold, shortness of breath, red eyes, swelling of fingers, hands and joints, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain, he or she should be taken to a health facility immediately.
The SOP said that all teachers and other staff should be vaccinated before school starts.
Thermal scanning of every student should be done daily at the time of admission in the school. The BMC said that if any student or staff member is found infected with the corona virus, the school should be closed and the building should be disinfected.
Masks are mandatory for everyone at all times. Air conditioning should not be used in the classrooms and, if necessary, the temperature should be maintained above 24 °C.
Windows and doors should be kept clean and completely open.
Meetings, meetings, annual day celebrations and other similar events which may give rise to large gatherings of students should not be organized. Only one student should sit on the desk bench. If possible, there should be a fixed place every day for the students to sit.
A class can have a maximum of fifteen to twenty students at a time. The SOP said that if the number of students in a class is more than 20, the students can be called in two sessions.
The actual class duration should not exceed three to four hours, and there should be no lunch break.
Students should be instructed to submit homework online, and teachers should ensure that books are not exchanged. The SOP said that social distancing should also be maintained in school buses or other vehicles carrying students.
