Mumbai Indians Celebrated Gudi Padwa With A Traditional Maharashtrian Thali

April 10, 2024

Gudi Padwa marks the beginning of the traditional Hindu New Year in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, and parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It signifies the onset of spring and the harvest season. Recently, on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa, the Mumbai Indians IPL team came together to celebrate and enjoyed a traditional Maharashtrian thali . A picture of the celebration was posted by the official account of the Mumbai Indians team, with the caption, “Today’s Gudi Padwa menu.” The thali included pulao, rotis, puran poli, raita, assorted chutneys, vada, misal pav, besan-fried brinjal, and shrikhand. Additionally, the thali featured a bowl of aloo sabzi, dal curry, a bowl of sev bhaji, and other flavourful curries. Completing the festive spread was a crispy papad. The thali was beautifully decorated with two small flags featuring the Mumbai Indians logo. Take a look:

Mumbai Indians’ batsman Tim David, who wore a traditional blue kurta for the occasion, wished all a “Happy Gudi Padwa” before diving into his food. Kumar Kartikeya Singh and Akash Madhval took a bite of the food before sharing that it “tastes very good.” Luke Wood, Naman Dhir, batters Dewald Brevis, and Tilak Verma were also spotted in the video, savouring the Maharashtrian delicacies and joining in the festivities of Gudi Padwa. Suryakumar Yadav ended the video by wishing everyone a “Happy Gudi Padwa” in Marathi.
