Mumbai Indians committed a robbery on Friday night.
It beat Gujarat Titans by five runs at the Brabourne Stadium, much to the delight of its loyal fans, who have gotten little excited about this IPL season.
When openers Wriddhiman Saha (55, 40b, 6×4, 2×6) and Shubman Gill (52, 36b, 6×4, 2×6) scored 106 runs in 12 overs, the Titans chased down Mumbai’s 177 for six and started their campaign. After the ninth win seemed well on track. 11 matches.

Titans needed a six off the last two balls after dangerman Rahul Tiwatia was run out. Miller was on strike, but was denied by the Australian left-arm seamer.
Mumbai registered their second consecutive win after losing their first eight games. This is Titans’ third loss in 11 matches.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians did well to recover from the top-order collapse and registered a total that kept it in the game. From 74 for no wicket in 7.3 overs, it rolled to 119 for four before honing Tim David’s unbeaten 21-ball total of 44 (2×4, 4×6).
Before the collapse, there was some lovely strokeplay, especially by Rohit Sharma (43, 28B, 5×4, 2×6). In the second over of the innings, he hit Alzarri Joseph over extra cover for a boundary and flicked him over mid-wicket for a six. Rohit’s show was going on, but Rashid Khan ended it doing LBW. The leg-spinner’s appeal was rejected by the umpire, but he wasted no time in reviewing it. Rohit’s reverse sweep attempt proved fatal.
His opening partner Ishan Kishan (45, 29b, 5×4, 1×6) was dropped at mid-wicket by Rashid off a slow delivery from Joseph, when Suryakumar Yadav was caught at mid-wicket by Pradeep Sangwan in the previous over. . , David then took over and made sure Mumbai Indians had enough in the bag.
