The Congress has accused its alliance partner Shiv Sena of trying to wipe out the party from Mumbai. The allegation comes even before the grand old party is preparing for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Congress councilors are reportedly unhappy with the ward reservation and held a meeting on Monday to discuss the delimitation exercise.
Mumbai Congress leaders are ready to appeal to the party high command to ensure that the party gets an appropriate role to play as a constituent of the Maha Vikas Aghadi and continues its presence in the city. The Mumbai unit believes that an attempt is being made to weaken the party ahead of the civic polls and the Shiv Sena has an important role to play in this.
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in BMC, Ravi Raja alleged that some party leaders were being targeted through the changes brought in their wards. He tweeted: “Today corporators of @INCMumbai met at MRCC office to discuss ward reservation scheduled for @mybmc elections. All the corporators are very upset with this system and they feel that injustice has been done to them. He is hopeful that the party high command will look into it and resolve the issue.

according to a report by India TodayRaja said, “The largest party Shiv Sena has forgotten that Congress is also a part of Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government in the state. The lottery system for ward reservation should have been done in a new way now that the boundaries were changed keeping in mind the population growth.” Gaya, but it did not happen. Around 21 Congress leaders in BMC will be affected as their ward reservations have changed.”
Congress leader Milind Deora also tweeted about the meeting and tagged the senior leaders. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
“Despite being an MVA ally, @INCIndia has been the biggest loser of @mybmc’s ward reservation. Political alliances cannot be one-sided. I will raise this issue on behalf of our municipal councilors under the leadership of the party. @RahulGandhi @priyankagandhi”
