Nagaland government to allow reopening of schools for classes 1 to 4

A senior minister said on Tuesday that the Nagaland government has decided to give more relaxations, including opening of schools for lower classes, i.e. from 1 to 4 and removing the night curfew. The state government is announcing the unlock process in a phased manner from July 1 and the current unlock phase 7 will end on October 31.

Government spokesperson and senior minister Neeba Kronu said at a press conference here on Tuesday that Unlock 8 will be effective from November 1 to December 15. He said the decision was taken at a review meeting of the High Powered Committee (HPC) on Covid-19 chaired by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

On further relaxations during the unlock process, Kronu said that while regular classes were allowed after proper handling of covid in the previous phase of unlock, HPC has this time mainly for lower classes from classes 1 to 4. Schools have been allowed to start again. Academic final examinations, which are conducted every year in November. However, he said that the final decision has been left to the concerned District Task Force (DTF) to allow the opening of schools depending on the local situation.

It has also been decided to completely remove the night curfew, which was earlier imposed from 10 pm to 4 am, he said, adding that both state and private passenger vehicles would normally operate in Unlock-8. can work. Requesting everyone to have a COVID-19 vaccine, Kronu also appealed to the DTF to make concerted efforts to take the vaccination campaign forward.

On organizing the Hornbill Festival, an annual tourism promotional 10-day event of the state government, which could not be organized since its inception in 2000 last year, the minister said that it will be held easily this year in the event of a pandemic. But the number of days will be decided by the tourism department. On allowing the entry of tourists, he said that only those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed.
