The family members of civilians killed by armed forces in Nagaland’s Oting village have decided not to get financial assistance from the state government till the people behind the death get justice.
The Oting Village Council has said in a letter that the ex-gratia amount will not be accepted until justice is given to the victims. Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) The entire North East has been canceled.
The village council said that minister Paiwang Konyak and Mon’s deputy commissioner brought an amount of Rs 18,30,000 before them on 5 December. When he came to know that it was an installment of ex-gratia from the state government for the families of the aggrieved and the injured persons, he refused to take it.

“Village parishad oting and the victim’s family will not receive unless the perpetrator of 21 Para Commandos of the Indian Armed Forces is repealed before the Civil Code and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the whole of North Eastern India. area,” the letter read.
The Nagaland government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those killed in firing by security forces. One lakh rupees will be given to the injured by the state government. Apart from this, the Center has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 11 lakh and government jobs for the families of the deceased persons.
