Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2021. The film was originally made in Telugu and was dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada languages. The film not only set the box office on fire in Tollywood but the Hindi dubbed version was declared a superhit. While fans loved Allu Arjun’s new release, Nagarjuna tried to break down the reason behind Pushpa’s success.
In a recent interview with Film Companion, Nagarjuna said that the film was worked on because it resonated with Indians and it won over single screen audiences. The Bangaraju star pointed out that the success of a film lies in capturing the single screen market, which Pushpa did well.
“Pushpa is a very country, rural Indian film. That’s what people want to see. They have ample influx of OTT, western movies and all kinds of movies. Somewhere the filmmakers are missing it. If seen, the most liked films in Bollywood in the last two-three years are rural UP, Punjab, those films where you are going to rural areas. People are able to connect to those feelings. Pushpa is that, very clearly. It is a pure Indian film. The way people dress, the way people look, 90 percent of India looks like this,” he said, adding that audiences today want to watch larger-than-life films.
Nagarjuna also told about his upcoming film Bangaraju in the interview. The film also stars his son, actor Naga Chaitanya. Nagarjuna said that Chaitanya had many questions before working on the film and Nagarjuna came up with ready answers. He said that he asked Chaitanya to trust him about Bangaraju and let go. He further said that he found Chaitanya ‘brilliant’ in Bangaraju and admitted that he was ‘jealous’ that he got the role. He also revealed that Naga Chaitanya overshadowed him in several scenes of the film.
Bangarraju is all set to release on Sankranti. It is one of six films to be released for the festival. The trailer was released recently and it was revealed that Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya play the role of playboys in the film. The film is directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala and also stars Ramya Krishna and Kriti Shetty in lead roles.
