Nagpur: A 13-year-old student of Class IX stabbed his classmate to death while playing in the school premises. Dabha on Wednesday. A fight ensued between the two, after which one used a small multipurpose knife to attack the other.
Police sources said that both the students studying in class IX were playing on the ground. While playing, one was pushed by the other. After a heated argument, both the youths got into a fight.
During the scuffle, the injured boy had earlier slapped another student, who used a multipurpose Chinese knife and in turn assaulted him. The student, covered in blood, was stabbed in the left side of the abdomen and taken to Alexis Hospital. The injured student was kept under observation in the hospital for a day before being discharged.

Zonal DCP Sandeep Pakhle said the matter would be referred to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) as per the norms of the Juvenile Justice Act. “We will send the detailed report of the incident along with the injury report to the JJB for further consideration,” the DCP said. The JJB can decide the course of action based on the findings of the police and the severity of the injury.
