Guwahati: Arunachal of the state naharlagun The subdivision administration on Friday temporarily suspended its order issued on Wednesday asking eateries to remove signboards displaying beef by July 18 to uphold the “secular spirit” of the Constitution.
Naharlagun Executive Magistrate Tamo Dada in his fresh order said that in view of requests from various quarters for extension of time limit for compliance, the earlier order dated July 13 has been kept in abeyance till further orders.
The previous order had faced criticism not only from some business bodies but also from political circles.
“The issue of signboards caused mental torture to the local people and traders. We are happy because it has been postponed. Tribal people in Arunachal Pradesh have no problem with religion, but any issue which creates local disharmony, peace and tranquility is unwanted. Johnny said that the APYC submitted a memorandum to the administration to quash the order. “Such an order to withdraw signboards will certainly affect the business of eateries. This is undesirable for the local communities who consume beef as well as traders,” he said.
Johnny claimed that APYC is the only organization that has submitted a memorandum in writing expressing its disapproval of the order.
While an earlier order by Naharlagun authorities asked eateries to remove the word “beef” from signboards to uphold the “secular spirit” of the Constitution, the APYC said the practice of serving beef in eateries in Arunachal Hasn’t hurt anyone’s feelings. decade.
