Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised on Sunday medal winning efforts Several athletes number after podium finishes for Indians at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
tagging a video of Indian wrestler Pooja Gehlot got emotional after winning bronze medal in women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling and apologizing to the people, Shri Modi said, “Pooja, your medal calls for celebration, not apology.”
“Your life’s journey inspires us, your success delights us. You are destined for great things ahead… Keep shining!” The Prime Minister said.
Shri Modi also praised wrestler Pooja Sihag for winning the bronze medal and said that she has made her mark as a talented wrestler. “She has faced many challenges due to her never die attitude. She has won bronze medal in Commonwealth Games 2022. Congratulations to her. I am sure she will continue to make India proud in times to come,” he said.
Praising wrestler Deepak Nehra for his bronze medal win, Shri Modi said that he displayed remarkable grit and commitment. “My best wishes to him for his upcoming endeavours,” he said.

Shri Modi also congratulated Bhavna Patel for winning the gold medal in Women’s Singles Para Table Tennis.
Mr Modi tweeted, “The remarkable @BhavinaOfficial has given us yet another opportunity to be proud. She won the coveted gold medal in Para Table Tennis, her first Commonwealth medal.”
He said, “I hope her achievements will inspire the youth of India to move forward in table tennis. I wish Bhavna all the best for her upcoming endeavours.”
Shri Modi also appreciated Sonal Patel’s efforts Who won bronze in Para TT.
Mr. Modi said, “Nothing is impossible when talent, temperament and tenacity are combined. Sonal Patel has shown it literally by winning a bronze medal in Para Table Tennis. Congratulations to him.”
“I pray that she continues to isolate herself in times to come,” he said.
Complimenting boxer Mohammad Hussamuddin for winning the bronze medal in the Games, Shri Modi said that he is an outstanding boxer who has achieved success in many sporting events. “Driven by amazing techniques and a spirit of flexibility, this bright athlete won a bronze medal in the men’s 57kg event in Birmingham. Congratulations to him. I wish him all the best,” Mr. Modi said.
The Prime Minister congratulated boxer Rohit Tokas on winning the bronze medal. Mr. Modi said, “His hard work and dedication have given splendid results. I hope he will get more success in the times to come.”
In a tweet late last night, the Prime Minister congratulated wrestler Naveen Kumar on winning the gold medal.
Modi tweeted, “More pride to our wrestlers. Congratulations Naveen Kumar for winning the gold medal. His remarkable confidence and excellent technique are on full display. Best wishes for his upcoming endeavours.”
